Welcome to Gladeview Christian School Library. The library first opened its doors in 1999. With just two boxes of books and a lot of prayer, our book collection has grown to include over 5,000 book titles. Generous book donations and fundraising has made it possible for the library to grow beyond our expectations.
Students from preschool through fifth grade visit the library once a week. The school Librarian, makes reading exciting by making books come alive. She dresses herself and the students like characters and acts out the story. Stories are coordinated with the student’s curriculum for that week so that subjects coincide with the learning in the classroom. Older students come to the library to check out books and do research.
In addition to her library duties, the school Librarian, teaches a middle school class called Library Science. The students learn how to run a library, photography, video production, PowerPoint presentations, fundraising, advertising, create motivational bulletin boards, storytelling, and how to run a book fair.
Our new school library is available for students Monday – Friday. Students and parents are encouraged to make use of the many books, magazines, videos, and periodicals available. Many of these publications pertain to parenting. The library opens at 9:00 a.m. and closes at 2:30 p.m. Over-due books are charged a fine until returned.
